THEOPENROAD....
I enjoy riding scenic routes, andnew routeswithnew adventures. Nothing is
more invigorating than the open roadblanketedwith trees and scattered spots
of the sunpoking through the leaves. Mywork travel involvesCountyRoadLS,
mymost traveled route.
Riding, tome, breaks up themonotony of life. When youhopon your bike
insteadof into your car it feels as if you are doing something different that
breaks up the routine – a change of pace, so to speak.
It is about the feel of the ride. It combines a feeling of strengthwith the
sounds of the Screamin’ Eagle pipes alongwith a release into relaxation. It is
just you and the bike rounding the cornerswhile the sun is just coming upover
the horizon and the temperature is 68-72 degreeswith a bit of crispness in the air (the best temperature for riding).
There is hardly any traffic on the road. You canonly see the glistening of LakeMichigan, and the sound and impact of the
big splat of an early rising bug on your facemask! Earlymorning ismy favorite time to ride.
Sadly, I donot get to do a lot of riding due to the busyness of my life’s schedule. I have done a couple of benefit rides.
Youbecome part of a family of riders coming together tohelpothers. It is pretty amazingwhen youhit the crest of a hill
and as far as you can see in front andbehind you are hundreds of cycles.
Since I have become a rider, I am a better driver in the sense of beingmore alert andobservant innoticingmotorcycles on
the road, aswell as other obstacles. Riding has instilled inme to think ahead and foresee things that couldbecome an accident.
“The feel of the ride…a release into relaxation!”
