Plenco’s 20 intrepidpaddlerson the“PlencoPlayland” boat
competed in the5th annualDragonBoatRaces July28th along
theSheboyganRiver SouthPier, part of Miesfeld’sLakeshore
Weekend celebration, triumphing over teams fromMayline,
Crash Test Dummies, Miesfeld’s and Larry’s Distributing to
claim our 3rd championship since the racewas launched five
years ago.
Inspired by the works of Chinese poet Qu Yuan, dragon
boat races are held worldwide and have become one of the
fastest-growing water sports. Dragon boats are 40 feet long
and painted in bright colors with heads that feature bulging
eyes and bright white fangs. In addition to 20 paddlers, the
crew usually includes a drummer and steersman.
