A Message from Mike Brotz
What better time than spring in Sheboygan to remind ourselves that
“hope springs eternal,” as Alexander Pope, an 18th century English poet,
wrote.
His words have found their way into American music, books, movies
and television. “Hope springs eternal” was the focus of the memorable
1994 motion picture, “The Shawshank Redemption,” starring Tim Robbins
and Morgan Freeman.
In the conclusion of my remarks at the Plenco Employee Meetings
April 7, I spoke of the Four Pillars of Plenco that have provided enduring
strength over our 82 years in business. Those Pillars include innovation,
enduring relationships, strong financial foundation and a long-range view.
The Four Pillars should give you
and your family confidence and hope
for a continuing positive future at
Plenco, despite the challenges of
2015.
I mentioned a recent Wall Street
Journal article, “An Emotion We All
Need More of,” namely, hope.
Psychologists tell us people who are hopeful have a strategy to achieve
their goals. It isn’t just “wishful thinking.” It’s a firm commitment, a deter-
mination to implement a plan.
We have that strategic thinking at work at Plenco. And each one of you
is part of that team, day in and day out. It’s been said that “Hope is not a
utopian dream. You have to stand up and work for it.”
That’s our focus for 2016. And with it we will see “What a difference a
year makes!”
